Ensuring Society's Health

In medicine, public health is a field that generally concerns itself with the health of society as a whole instead of each individual person. Through public health campaigns, whether initiated by the government or by concerned organisations, health is ensured through a concerted effort of the people. Furthermore, public health programmes also ensure that diseases are not spread among people. Among the many implemented programmes in public health are mass vaccinations against polio, which is an infectious disease that can spread from person to person. Other campaigns include dissemination of information regarding health or what to do to keep a healthy lifestyle. With public health endeavours, we can assure ourselves that society’s overall health is in good condition and the average lifespan is extended.
