One of the many challenges of interior decorating is designing a home that is especially suited to a person’s specific taste. So, let us say that you wish to embellish a room to suit your child who is into athletic activities. How do you achieve this? Read on for suggestions.
#1 Clear up the mess.
When there are exercise equipment or gear scattered across the living room floor, you need to deal with such a mess before any decorating begins. Because your child will prefer spending time playing on the field rather than cleaning up his bedroom, you will first have to introduce a system that can help him organise his things.
Suggestion: Assign a cupboard for small sports items like tennis balls and shin guards. Set up a locker solely for athletic gear such as jerseys, shoes, and clubs. In addition, set aside the fragile equipment in a special storage room.
#2 Choose appropriate embellishments.
As a start, you can go with hanging posters of your kid’s favourite athletes in the bedroom. Besides this, you can also place lamps, mattresses, and other related items which bear sporty patterns in them. However, these options work best only for youngsters.
Suggestion: If you have a teenager son who owns a hidden treasure trove of sports-themed collectible cards, ask him if you could frame these into an instant work of art, which you can readily hang on the wall.
#3 Create a sports-themed gallery in hallways.
If your daughter has won several sporting competition in school, you can set up a display cabinet of her many medals and trophies in your spacious hall.
Suggestion: For your children who have a wardrobe full of official jerseys from their favourite soccer pro team, you can place these in huge frames and create a walk-through gallery of their idolised players in the residence.
#4 Set up a gym or a playing court.
Of course, an athlete will need a place where he can exercise or practice his game. So, set aside a room where they can exercise. In addition, maximise the front yard or the backyard and add a playing court to it.
Suggestion: Call on the services of a home contractor if ever the need to build a spare room for the home gym arises. Also, you can ask their help as you transform the home’s driveways into an improvised football goal.
